Trezor.io/Start® — Starting Up Your Device | Trezor®

Getting started with your Trezor® hardware wallet through Trezor.io/Start® is the first and most important step toward taking complete control of your digital assets. Whether you are new to crypto security or upgrading your protection, the setup process is designed to be simple, transparent, and fully in your hands. Trezor® ensures that your private keys never leave your device, giving you a secure foundation for managing your coins and tokens with confidence.

1. Unboxing and Device Preparation

When you first open your Trezor® box, you should see the device, a USB cable, and recovery seed cards. Make sure the hologram seal is intact, verifying that your device has not been tampered with. Once you’re ready, connect your Trezor® to your computer using the included cable. You won’t need any special software yet—the official setup process always begins on the website Trezor.io/Start®.

2. Visit the Official Setup Page

Open your browser and go to Trezor.io/Start®. This page acts as the onboarding hub for all Trezor devices, including Model One and Model T. The website will automatically detect your device model and guide you through each step. From here, you’ll download the Trezor Suite app, the official application for managing your crypto, checking balances, approving transactions, and monitoring portfolio activity.

3. Install Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Once installed, open the app and allow it to detect your connected device. You may be asked to install the latest firmware if your device is new or outdated. Firmware updates are essential—they patch security improvements and introduce new features. Trezor® ensures that updates are verified on the device screen so you know everything is legitimate and authorized.

4. Create a New Wallet

After your firmware is up to date, the Trezor Suite app will ask whether you want to create a new wallet or recover an existing one. For first-time users, select Create New Wallet. The device will then generate a Recovery Seed, typically 12, 18, or 24 words depending on your model. These words are the ultimate backup for your crypto. Write them down exactly as shown on your Trezor screen and store them safely offline. Never type them into a computer, phone, or online form.

5. Confirm Recovery Seed

To make sure you have written the words correctly, the device will ask you to confirm them by selecting specific words in the correct order. This step ensures your backup is accurate before the wallet becomes active.

6. Set Up a PIN

Next, you will create a secure PIN code. This PIN protects your device from physical access attempts. Choose a PIN that is memorable to you but difficult to guess.

7. Start Managing Your Crypto

Once your wallet is created, Trezor Suite opens your dashboard. From here, you can add accounts, receive crypto safely using verified addresses, send transactions with device confirmation, and track your portfolio securely.
